July 2025 Newsletter
Summer is in full swing, and so are we! July has been a month of incredible momentum for Garrett’s Space.
We're deep in planning mode for Go4GarrettsSpace, our annual fundraiser that brings our community together to support young adults facing mental health challenges.
We hope you'll mark your calendars and join us on the evening of Saturday, August 23rd! There's nothing quite like the energy and connection we create when we gather together.
Construction Corner
Meanwhile, there's been great progress at our property in Superior Township! We’ve already cleared an area near the existing house to make room for our two new buildings and we’re drilling new wells to support the expanded facilities. Renovations are transforming the existing house into a welcoming and safe space where in-person programming will begin this fall. Current work includes installing a fire suppression system and making the house more accessible.
Thank you for being part of this journey with us. Your support makes every bit of this progress possible!
Join Us for Go4GarrettsSpace 2025
We're just weeks away from our biggest event of the year!
Join us on Saturday, August 23rd, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Washtenaw Community College's Morris Lawrence Building for an evening that brings together our community to learn about our latest efforts to support young adult mental health.
All funds raised will benefit our wellness programming and the creation of our residential center, a desperately needed non-medical support option for young adults struggling with depression or anxiety.
Enjoy a light dinner, a silent auction with local and regional items and experiences, exciting updates from Garrett's Space and inspirational presentations and performances.
We’ll also have optional sound bath and meditation sessions beginning at 9:00 p.m., offering a look into the kinds of mindfulness practices that will be central to our programming when we open our residential campus.
Buy Tickets Now! Tickets are available on a sliding scale: $75 (age 29+), $25 (ages 18-28), $10 (high school), with "Pay What You Can” options available, so that anyone who is interested in learning more about our work can attend.
Register now at garrettsspace.org/go4-2025. Tickets can be purchased at the door as well.

From Our Community: A Self-Care Resource
Our Clinical Director Peggy Galimberti has put together something special for our community: a self-care wheel filled with strategies from our wellness groups and ideas crowd-sourced from participants. Perfect timing too—July 24th was International Self-Care Day!
When stress hits or you're going through a difficult time, it can be hard to think of helpful coping strategies in the moment. That's where this tool comes in handy. Save the link on your phone or computer for quick access to practical ways to regulate your system and feel better.
Don't love the suggestion it lands on? Give it another spin until you find something that feels right for you at that moment.
You'll also have the chance to meet our program team in person at Go4Garrett'sSpace. Stop by their table to learn more about our programming and ask any questions you might have.
To get help for you or someone else, please contact Peggy Galimberti (peggy@garrettsspace.org or 734-212-6890) or visit our website to learn more.
Did you know?
The latest Washtenaw County Suicide Report shows promising progress — and also reminds us why our work matters.
Suicide attempt rates are declining overall in Washtenaw County — yet men still account for the majority of deaths, and young women aged 10–24 continue to have the highest attempt rates.
At Garrett’s Space, we’re encouraged by this momentum and remain deeply committed to building supportive spaces, reducing stigma, and helping young adults find hope and healing.
If you or someone you know is struggling, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
You are not alone.
