Our Story
Garrett’s Space was founded by Julie and Scott Halpert in 2018, a year after they lost their 23-year-old son, Garrett, to suicide.
Garrett truly represented all that was good in the world. He was a kind, compassionate soul who was always there to listen.
When he began to struggle, he craved a supportive place to heal—beyond hospital stays or regular visits to a therapist—but it didn't exist. The Halperts established Garrett’s Space to create that haven.
Research shows that connectedness, peer support, coping skills, and evidence-based approaches can improve mental health and lower the risk of suicide.
That’s why Garrett’s Space creates supportive communities for young people in a non-medical setting—where they can connect with others, learn coping skills, build resilience, and know they are not alone.
